The beautiful Tassajara Valley is situated on the stretches of Danville’s Blackhawk to San Ramon and Dublin, and to the renown wine country of Livermore.

Sandhu Stables is located on approximately 30 acres of flat land at the foothills of Mt. Diablo. This facility is one of the largest well developed horse ranches in the area. Sandhu Stables is well maintained by passionate personnel. All of the onsite amenities are easily accessible via paved roads and a designated area for trailer parking is available as well.

The abundance of amenities available at Sandhu Stables distinguishes this facility as an all inclusive unit that has the capacity to cater to the various needs of its patrons. 



Sandhu Stables is home to the only privately owned 1/2 mile practice race track in the San Francisco Bay Area. This facility is located approximately 35 miles from the renown Golden Gate Fields.


Learn about our STABLES:

Our barn can house up to 46 horses while ensuring that each horse gets the dedicated care and attention that it needs. 

The amenities for horses include:

  • 12X12 box stalls with rubber mats and automatic waterers
  • 12X12 box stalls with paddock, rubber mats, automatic waterers and winter sliding doors
  • Wash racks with hot and cold water
  • Tack rooms
  • 3 daily feeds
  • Daily cleaning of all stalls with new shavings



Joe McKinley

Vanguard eventing

Joe McKinley is a veteran rider and trainer who has competed in the upper levels of eventing and dressage. A graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Joe draws on his military experience in his process of training horses. Joe has years of experience coaching event and dressage riders and helping them to climb up the levels successfully.

With young horses, as well as horses he has produced himself and brought through the levels, Joe has numerous wins and top three finishes at varying levels and has successfully competed at the Intermediate level. In addition to his primary focus of eventing, Joe has competed and won through Prix St Georges dressage and has multiple wins and places at 3rd and 4th level.

Danielle McKinley, a Bay Area native, started her work with horses from a young age with a focus on three-day eventing and dressage. Danielle has brought up several horses from the race track through Preliminary and CCI* levels in eventing and now specializes in working with young and green horses as well as teaching riders of all ages and levels. In addition to her lengthy background in eventing, Danielle has competed and trained in the Hunter-Jumper world ranging from young horses to International Hunter Derbys and 1.20m jumpers. Having worked as a groom, barn manager and assistant trainer in several FEI barns, Danielle is able to draw her knowledge from all aspects of the industry, including her Bachelors of Science degree in Equine Science and Management.
